Diversity and Official Languages
Embracing diversity: CIHR's Commitment to building a representative workforce
Just as we strive to improve the health of all Canadians, we also strive to attract Canadians from different backgrounds and provide them with the opportunity to consider working for us. Our goal is to build and maintain a workforce that reflects the diversity of our country.
That's why we actively work to achieve a more equitable, diverse and inclusive workforce including the representation of visible minorities, Indigenous peoples and persons with disabilities at all levels of the organization. We believe that a diverse workforce makes us interesting, innovative and creative and helps us be more responsive to the needs of Canadians.
More precisely, we take concrete measures to achieve an inclusive workplace, including planning diversity events that aim to attract employees from all cultural groups and raising awareness by highlighting significant dates important to various cultures and races. What's more, as part of our ongoing goal to foster an environment in which all employees are valued and respected, we provide training on topics such as:
- Diversity/Cross-Cultural Understanding
- Multiculturalism
- Harassment/Discrimination
- Employment Equity
Official languages duality
At CIHR, we commit to promoting Canada's language duality and to providing an environment where employees work in the official language of their choice. Whether it concerns internal staff communications or external relationships with our partners, we recognize the importance and benefits of serving our employees and Canadians in both official languages.
