Centre for Research on Pandemic Preparedness and Health Emergencies - Objectives
Overall goal: Protect the health of all Canadians by developing and mobilizing health research for pandemic and health emergency preparedness, prevention, response and recovery that contributes meaningfully to timely, equitable and effective responses and recovery.
Coordinated Evidence Base and Capacity
Objective
Strengthen coordination and capacity within the health emergency research system to equip Canadian and international decision makers with the best available evidence, and increased access to highly qualified personnel, to inform decision making in pandemic and health emergency prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery contexts.
Outcome
Increased knowledge creation, training/capacity building, and knowledge mobilization in areas critical to supporting decision making in pandemic and health emergency prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.
Collaborative Leadership
Objective
Leverage organizational and Canadian strengths and capacity for well-coordinated domestic and global leadership in the execution and implementation of pandemic and health emergency research.
Outcome
Canada has an international reputation as a leader in evidence-informed pandemic and health emergency preparedness and response.
Knowledge Mobilization
Objective
Maximize the relevance, timeliness, credibility, visibility, and use of Canada's pandemic and health emergency research.
Outcome
Improved reciprocal exchange of knowledge between researchers and knowledge users in areas critical to pandemic and health emergency prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.
Continuous Improvement at CIHR
Objective
Consistently identify opportunities to improve internal efficiency and program/science policy impacts, and implement and share lessons learned.
Outcome
New and/or improved methods, tools, and data analytics enhance the efficiency and impact of CIHR's health research investment planning, prioritization, and other processes.
