Translation tips
Here are some general guidelines regarding translation services:
- Avoid using machine translation services
- Use the service of an accredited translator
- Make sure the translation is done in Canadian French
- Use a translator who specializes in medical translation where possible
- Budget an average of $0.26 per word for translation (30% more for rush jobs)
- Covering the cost of translation services is an eligible use of CIHR grant funds
Poor translation interferes with clear communication and can also reduce the credibility of your organization and program of research.
