Grants are designed to cover the operating expenses associated with a research study or project. Here are the most common types of grants given by CIHR.
Operating Grants fund researchers working in specific priority areas identified by CIHR.
Project Grants support research projects proposed and conducted by researchers in any area of the health sciences.
Team Grants support multidisciplinary research teams.
Chairs support professors or research fellows recognized for the excellence and impact of their research.
Training Grants support and develop the next generation of health researchers.
Catalyst Grants provide one year of funding, often for new, experimental areas of investigation before researchers apply for larger grants.
Planning and Dissemination Grants support planning or partnership development activities that focus on communicating research evidence.
