CIHR Rare Disease Research Initiative: RareKids-CAN
RareKids-CAN is a network dedicated to supporting pediatric rare disease clinical trials in Canada. Its vision is:
“to ensure that every child, adolescent, and young adult affected by rare diseases in Canada has access to effective and innovative treatments”.
RareKids-CAN connects children and their families with clinical trials through the Clinical Trial Operation and Coordinating Hub, where they are informed about clinical trials and provided with the necessary support to participate. RareKids-CAN also supports the development, management and execution of pediatric rare diseases clinical trials and brings together patient/family partners, patient organizations, investigators, research networks, and industry in order to do so.
Through these actions, RareKids-CAN is expected to accelerate clinical trials and access to innovative treatments for pediatric rare diseases across Canada.
